Foreign girl in India - Anjali from London
Foreign girl in India - why do some Indian people make bad comments - Anjali from London
I am from England and I have been coming to India for the past 5 years. I have some great Indian friends, I love and respect the culture, the different religions, the colours, the history, the food, the people... I have done a lot of volunteer work and I am training as a teacher so I can work in India.
But why do I get so many bad comments because I am a white girl from England? I don't know what to do. Men (mostly, but some women) either think I am rich because I am a gauri from England and make silly comments, or they see me as a time pass.
I always wear Indian clothes, speak nicely, I am vegetarian and I do not drink. I speak to people with respect.
Why do people think of me like this? Is it because they are uneducated? What can I say to make them stop behaving so rudely. I am a human being and it is not my fault that I was born in England and that I am fair. It makes me feel very bad when I hear these things :-(
I really love India. It would be nice to hear what you have to say.
Thank you!
